Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Shift Type: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Evening shift; specific days per facility schedule)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, promoting dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Document care activities accurately and timely to maintain continuity of care
- Engage residents in social and therapeutic activities to enhance quality of life
- Collaborate with the care team to execute individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification as required by the state
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for caring for older adults
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of infection control and basic resident care procedures
- Skilled in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Comfortable with documentation and basic care charting
- Ability to observe, report, and escalate clinical changes effectively
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong teamwork skills
