Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; includes 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks and holiday coverage as scheduled (night shift)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality neuro-telemetry nursing care for a 32-bed unit, managing complex neuro patients with compassion
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and accurately interpret EKGs to detect dysrhythmias
- Titrate cardiac and insulin drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem/Diltiazem, Insulin) safely and per protocol
- Perform procedure-based skills such as Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes while maintaining sterile technique
- Participate in and pass SIMs Lab competencies (Foley, central line care, lifts, restraints, wound care)
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team—RT, pharmacy, SWAT IV RN and hospitalists—to deliver coordinated care
- Serve as charge nurse when scheduled and accept light patient assignments with a focus on team leadership
- Provide bedside report and timely documentation in Cerner to ensure continuity and quality of care
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (eligible to submit; employer willing to wait per job notes)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with telemetry and neuro experience highly preferred
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Required: Level 1 trauma experience (must-have)
- Demonstrated competency in EKG interpretation / dysrhythmia recognition (dysrhythmia exam required prior to acceptance; two attempts allowed)
- Competence in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (SIMs Lab pass/fail)
- Ability to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem/Diltiazem and Insulin
- Willingness to float to tele units and support tele ICU overflow
- Travel-specific requirements: must have personal vehicle, natural hair color, no facial piercings; male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms
- Proficient with Cerner EMR charting and clinical documentation
- IV therapy and drip titration protocols for cardiac and insulin drips
- Central line care, sterile technique, and Foley catheter insertion skills
- Neuro-focused patient assessment (CVA, TBI, post-op spinal/brain surgery, encephalopathy)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-turnover unit and prioritize effectively
- Strong communication and teamwork for bedside report and multidisciplinary collaboration
- Basic wound care, safe patient lifts, and restraint procedures
