Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night): Day 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Night 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. Rotating weekends with day shift Saturday & Sunday and night shift Friday & Saturday. No on-call.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, family-centered critical care to pediatric congenital heart disease and post-op cardiac patients in the CICU
• Manage arterial, central and transthoracic lines and monitor hemodynamics closely
• Participate in intubation and extubation procedures and manage mechanical ventilation (Servo U and other ventilators)
• Assist with ECMO cannulation/decannulation, CRRT and manual peritoneal dialysis when indicated
• Administer and manage IV medications and pumps (Medfusion, Baxter) while ensuring accurate infusion practices
• Document patient care and clinical changes accurately in the Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with surgeons, cardiologists, respiratory therapists and the multidisciplinary team during post-op recovery and codes
• Serve as a calm, skilled presence in high-acuity situations and support unit best-practice guidelines

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible or currently licensed in Texas preferred)
• PALS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of Pediatric CICU/CVICU staff nursing experience (must-have)
• Minimum 2 years PICU staff nursing experience preferred; 3-4 dedicated pediatric CICU contracts ideal
• Experience caring for congenital heart disease patients and post-operative CHD management
• Demonstrated skill with arterial, central and transthoracic line management
• Comfortable with ECMO, CRRT, and advanced pediatric critical care procedures

Education

• Completion of an accredited Nursing program and active RN license
• BSN preferred but ADN with relevant critical care experience will be considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric critical care knowledge including congenital heart disease and post-op cardiac care
• Hands-on experience with Meditech EMR for charting and care coordination
• Proficiency with IV infusion devices including Medfusion and Baxter pumps
• Familiarity with Servo U ventilators and advanced airway management
• Experience using Somanetics NIRS monitoring and other pediatric-specific equipment
• Ability to respond effectively to codes and high-acuity events
• Excellent communication, teamwork and clinical decision-making skills
