Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities—bathing, dressing, grooming—with dignity and compassion
- Provide attentive hands-on care, helping with transfers and mobility while following safe-lift techniques
- Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff to ensure timely care
- Support mealtime and dietary needs, ensuring residents are comfortable and nourished
- Document care accurately and promptly to maintain clear communication across the care team
- Create warm, respectful interactions that promote emotional well-being and a positive environment
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Strong communication skills and a caring attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident rights
- Comfortable with safe transfer techniques and mobility assistance
- Basic infection control and hygiene practices
- Reliable documentation and observational skills
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to follow care plans
