Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC). Schedule set 4 weeks in advance with required weekend coverage (typical rotation includes approximately 2-4 weekend nights per pay period). Night shift staff are first to float and may cover PCU/MST/EC ICU as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care nursing for CVICU/ICU/PCU patients, delivering compassionate, evidence-based care
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG rhythms, acting quickly on dysrhythmias and emergent changes
- Manage and titrate vasoactive drips and sedation per unit protocols
- Perform ventilator management tasks including troubleshooting and weaning support
- Care for patients with advanced lines and devices (arterial lines, Swan-Ganz, chest tubes, EVD)
- Support perioperative and post-open-heart surgical patients, including hemodynamic monitoring and device management
- Collaborate with intensivists, NPs, RTs and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in rapid response and code blue teams as needed and serve as charge/support resource when staffing requires
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure (able to submit for assignment) — Arizona licensure expected
- Minimum 2 years of critical care/ICU nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Strong EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation skills (must pass unit dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to contract)
- Experience with ventilator weaning and troubleshooting
- Comfort titrating critical care drips (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants)
- Experience or proficiency with advanced devices a plus (IABP, Impella, VAD, TAVR) and CRRT/Prismaflex preferred
- Ability to float across units and work weekends and some holidays per unit requirements
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care fundamentals (CVICU and medical-surgical ICU crossover)
- EKG rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring (Nihon Kohden familiarity helpful)
- ABG interpretation and arterial line management
- Ventilator management, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and Vapotherm familiarity
- Skill with chest tubes, EVD, Swan-Ganz catheter care and troubleshooting
- Experience with CRRT/Prismaflex and hemodynamic support devices (IABP, Impella)
- Familiarity with Cerner charting and electronic documentation
- Manual proning techniques and care for COVID/ARDS patients
