Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care for progressive care patients—especially neuro and trauma cases
• Continuously monitor telemetry and bedside monitors, responding to changes quickly and confidently
• Perform frequent neuro assessments and manage specialty equipment like high-flow oxygen, end-tidal CO2, and chronic vents
• Manage chest tubes and assist with EEG monitoring and related procedures
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Meditech to ensure smooth continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement effective care plans
• Maintain patient ratios (approximately 4:1) while prioritizing safety and quality outcomes
• Float to ICU and ED when needed, supporting broader inpatient needs with a team-first attitude

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) experience in telemetry / step-down / progressive care
• Minimum 2 years of clinical RN experience (PCU/telemetry/step-down preferred)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Comfortable with neuro and trauma patient care; experience with chest tubes, EEGs, vents, and high-flow oxygen is a strong plus
• Ability to float to ICU and ED as needed and work collaboratively in a team-oriented unit
• Preferred certifications: NHISS and TNCC

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Step-down / progressive care clinical skills and best practices
• Neuro assessment and trauma care familiarity
• Ventilator management and high-flow oxygen therapy
• End-tidal CO2 monitoring and bedside monitor competency
• Chest tube care and troubleshooting
• EEG basics and coordination with neurology teams
• Proficient documentation in Meditech and strong communication skills
