Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate radiologic and fluoroscopic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Perform OR, ED, inpatient and portable X-ray exams with accuracy and calm under pressure
- Evaluate images for technical quality and retake when clinically necessary
- Collaborate with surgeons, ED clinicians and nursing teams to support patient care in operative and trauma settings
- Float between assigned departments as needed to meet patient and department demands
- Precept and work with radiography students from Grady, including performing competency check-offs
- Document procedures and patient interactions accurately in EPIC and manage studies in Sectra
Qualifications
- ARRT (registered) — required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) — required
- Graduate of a JRCERT/ARRT approved radiography program
- Minimum 1 year at a Level 1 trauma center OR 2–3 years at a large-bed Level 2 trauma facility
- Comfortable and experienced with OR imaging, general X-ray, portables, ED and inpatient imaging
- Willingness to learn pediatric and neonatal imaging
- Ability to float between departments and adapt to shifting clinical needs
- Familiarity with GE, Philips and CareStream imaging equipment
Education
- Graduated from a JRCERT/ARRT accredited radiography program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Radiography and fluoroscopy technique and safety
- Trauma imaging protocols and urgent imaging workflow
- Portable radiography best practices and patient handling
- Operating room imaging specifics and sterile/transfer procedures
- Image quality evaluation and troubleshooting
- Experience with EPIC charting and Sectra PACS
- Competency assessment, student supervision and precepting skills
- Comfort using GE, Philips and CareStream systems
