Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage ventilator settings and care for mechanically ventilated patients, including Drager, Hamilton and V60 systems
- Perform ABG draws and analyze results to guide respiratory interventions
- Provide noninvasive ventilation (NIV) and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management
- Assist with intubations and bronchial procedures as needed to support critical care teams
- Safely transport patients intra-hospital while maintaining respiratory stability
- Deliver routine floor respiratory care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Document care accurately in Meditech and communicate clearly using AIDET to enhance patient experience
- Support pediatric and critical care patients, applying trauma level II experience when required
Qualifications
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) or CRT required
- Current BLS required; ACLS, PALS and NRP required
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (as listed)
- Experience in pediatrics, critical care and level II trauma environments preferred and called out as must-have
- Comfortable with ventilator management, ABG analysis, NIV, HFNC and intubation assist
- Able to work night shift hours and adapt to travel assignment logistics
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong ventilator management skills with experience on Drager, Hamilton and V60 ventilators
- Proficient in ABG analysis and rapid clinical decision making
- Skilled in NIV, HFNC, intubation assist, bronch assist and intra-hospital transport
- Familiarity with Meditech documentation and electronic charting
- Excellent communication skills and patient-focused bedside manner using AIDET
- Ability to function effectively in variable patient-ratio settings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
