Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality neuro-rehabilitation nursing care to a primarily neuro patient population (TBI, CVA, brain tumor, transplant patients)
• Perform acute med-surgical duties including IV therapy, wound care, and routine patient monitoring
• Maintain sterile technique and competently perform Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes per SIMs Lab expectations
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and coordinate closely with rehab therapists to support patient recovery goals
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, partnering in care plans and providing education
• Float to MedSurg units as needed and support unit staffing and patient flow

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in the state of Arizona
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with strong MedSurg background
• Required: Level 1 Trauma experience
• Required certifications: BLS; FIM certification expected (or willingness to obtain)
• Dysrhythmia competency required (must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance)
• Experience with 12-hour shifts and weekend scheduling
• Ability to pass SIMs Lab skills (Foley insertion and central line dressing change) and adhere to sterile field expectations
• Travel team requirements: vehicle for travel assignments; compliance with facility grooming/fit-test policies (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit test)

Education

• Active RN license in good standing (state qualification required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and clinical documentation
• Strong sterile technique and procedural competency (Foley, central line care)
• IV therapy skills and familiarity with SWAT IV team processes
• Wound care knowledge and ability to perform lifts/restraints safely
• Comfort managing neuro-rehab diagnoses (TBI, CVA, brain tumor) and collaborating with rehab teams
• Excellent communication, family engagement, and patient advocacy skills
