Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert hands-on care for patients in labor, delivery and recovery — guiding families through one of life’s biggest moments
• Perform continuous and intermittent fetal monitoring, interpret tracings, and act decisively to ensure fetal well-being
• Assess and triage pregnant patients at all stages of pregnancy with clinical confidence
• Circulate in the OR during obstetric procedures, collaborating with surgical teams to maintain safety and efficiency
• Care for high-risk antepartum patients as needed, applying critical thinking and best-practice protocols
• Document care accurately in the EMR (Meditec/CPN) and communicate clearly with interdisciplinary team members
• Support a positive, team-first unit culture by mentoring colleagues and participating in unit initiatives

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (required)
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (L&D experience preferred)
• Preferred: STABLE, C-EFM, scrub training, and experience with Meditec and CPN
• Comfort with GE fetal monitors, Acumen and JADA is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal heart rate interpretation and fetal monitoring skills
• Skilled in labor management, delivery support and postpartum recovery care
• Triage and patient assessment across all stages of pregnancy
• OR circulation skills and familiarity with obstetric surgical workflows
• Experience with EMR systems (Meditec, CPN) and common unit equipment (GE fetal monitors, Acumen, JADA)
• Ability to work within AWHONN staffing standards and unit policies
• Team collaboration, adaptability, and a calm, patient-centered approach
