Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and identify changes in rhythm to keep patients safe
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and on schedule
- Assess patients frequently and document findings clearly in the EMR
- Coordinate with physicians, unit staff and ancillary services to deliver seamless care
- Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
- Participate in unit teamwork, supporting colleagues to maintain smooth shift flow
- Assist with common post-operative and procedural care (e.g., joint replacements, gallbladders, hysterectomy follow-up)
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (ability to obtain Kansas licensure required for travel assignments)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (telemetry experience strongly preferred)
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Familiarity with NIH stroke scale is a plus
- Comfortable with EMR documentation and common telemetry equipment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; outgoing and team-oriented personality fits this unit well
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Proficient EMR charting and documentation
- Medication administration and IV care
- Post-operative nursing care and common med-surg procedures
- Patient assessment, triage and escalation
- Clear communication and teamwork in a fast-paced unit
