Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts; typically four 12-hour shifts per week (48 hours/week); includes required weekend nights (Friday-Saturday) and rotating float responsibilities to PCU/MST

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional critical care to CVICU/ICU patients, including post-op cardiac and complex medical cases
- Interpret EKGs and ABGs to inform rapid, lifesaving interventions
- Manage ventilators: troubleshoot, wean and collaborate with RTs during intubations
- Titrate critical drips (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, anticoagulants) safely and according to protocol
- Operate and interpret invasive lines and devices such as arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP and VADs as needed
- Respond to rapid response and code blue events with confidence and teamwork
- Precept and buddy up during orientation shifts to support new clinicians and ensure continuity of care
- Document accurately in Cerner and monitor tele strips (nurses read their own strips)
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — able to submit license
- Minimum 2 years critical care/ICU nursing experience (CVICU, MS ICU, PCU exposure beneficial)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong EKG interpretation skills; clinician must pass dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts) prior to contract
- Proven experience with ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Comfort titrating critical care drips and managing complex infusions
- Experience with CRRT/Prismaflex, IABP, Impella, TAVR or VAD devices is highly preferred
- Willingness to float between ICU areas and work scheduled weekend/night shifts
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BSN not required (Associate or diploma acceptable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care nursing fundamentals: hemodynamics, ventilator management and advanced monitoring
- EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
- Medication/drip titration for pressors, sedatives and antiarrhythmics
- ABG interpretation and respiratory assessment
- Familiarity with CRRT, arterial lines, Swan-Ganz, chest tubes and post-op cardiac care
- Comfort using Cerner charting and Nihon Kohden monitors
- Skilled with airway adjuncts and intubation support tools like Glidescope
- Ability to function independently on nights, read monitors, and prioritize high-acuity patients
