Shift Type: Monday-Thursday, 10-hour day shifts (start/end times vary by unit); On-call rotation required (minimum 10 call days/month)

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Process and sterilize instruments and equipment, maintaining sterilization logs and quality control
- Prepare case carts and ensure all supplies and instruments are ready and organized for each procedure
- Set up and tear down the operating room before and after procedures while maintaining strict sterile technique
- Anticipate surgeon needs and work closely with the team during procedures to ensure excellent patient outcomes
- Perform accurate sponge and instrument counts according to policy and documentation requirements
- Label medications on the sterile field clearly and consistently (syringe and receptacle)
- Maintain and update surgical preference cards and assist with inventory management for service lines
- Assist with GI procedures and perform duties of a Sterile Processing Technician as needed
- Participate actively in the Time Out Process and adhere to AORN Standards and regulatory requirements
- Engage in committees and continuous improvement activities to enhance peri-operative care
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of ORT or an accredited Surgical Technology Certification Program
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Surgical Technologist
- High level of proficiency in at least three surgical service lines
- Current Colorado license or multistate license (must be source-verified prior to start)
- BLS (AHA) required; ACLS (AHA) and PALS required as listed
- Up-to-date immunizations (Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps, Varicella-Zoster, Hep B) and TB test within the last year
- Negative 10-panel drug screen (within required timeframe) and recent criminal background/OIG checks as required
- CAPS check through the State of Colorado (required for patient care positions)
- Ability and willingness to take assigned on-call shifts
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- ORT or Surgical Technology Certification Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Sterile technique and operating room setup
- Instrument processing and sterile processing workflows
- Surgical counts for sponges and instruments
- Familiarity with AORN Standards and Time Out Process
- Experience with surgical preference cards and case cart preparation
- Ability to assist in GI procedures and multiple surgical service lines
- Inventory management and identification of procurement needs
- Clear medication labeling on the sterile field and strong customer-service orientation
