Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs and report changes in condition to the nursing team
- Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding practices when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and clear communication with nurses and families
- Promote resident dignity, independence, and a comfortable living environment
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Current immunizations and ability to pass background checks and TB screening
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a resident-first mindset
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident safety
- Skill in assisting with ADLs and safe transfer techniques
- Basic infection control practices and awareness of resident hygiene needs
- Ability to document accurately in electronic or paper charts
- Teamwork, time management, and respectful communication with residents and families
