Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to support resident dignity
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition promptly
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, always prioritizing resident safety
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation of care and shift reports
- Support infection control and facility protocols to keep residents and staff safe
- Collaborate with nurses and the care team to deliver coordinated, person-centered care
- Engage residents with empathy and respect to promote social and emotional well-being
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent geriatric nursing assistant credential (preferred/required by facility)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or working with older adults is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or state-recognized geriatric nursing assistant credential
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe resident handling techniques
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control practices and basic nursing procedures
- Good observation skills and ability to escalate concerns appropriately
- Compassionate bedside manner and effective interpersonal skills
- Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic or paper charting
