Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Shift Type: Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC; days vary based on facility scheduling
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to preserve dignity and comfort
- Take and record vital signs, observe residents for changes, and report findings promptly to the nursing team
- Provide compassionate bedside care and mobility assistance, promoting safety and independence
- Support feeding and meal assistance while observing dietary needs and preferences
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident record to ensure continuity of care
- Communicate effectively and kindly with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or state-approved equivalent (Class: GNA)
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but new grads with strong caregiving experience are welcome
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- Up-to-date immunizations as required by the facility
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic resident care and ADL assistance
- Skilled in safe resident transfers and mobility support
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with charting and documentation best practices
- Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork
- Understanding of infection control and basic safety procedures
