Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor resident comfort and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention by following care plans
- Assist with feeding, personal hygiene, dressing, and toileting while promoting dignity
- Document care accurately and timely to keep the care team informed
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and families, offering reassurance and respect
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to maintain a healthy environment
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Valid state-required certifications and ability to pass background checks
- Comfortable working with older adults and a passion for person-centered care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards of care
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic caregiving tasks and geriatric care principles
- Familiarity with charting and basic documentation practices
- Ability to assist with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility)
- Understanding of infection control, safety, and resident rights
- Good observation skills to notice changes in resident status
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
