Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on personal care and assistance with activities of daily living for geriatric residents
- Observe, report, and document changes in resident condition accurately and promptly
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe use of assistive equipment to prevent falls
- Support mealtime, hygiene, and toileting while preserving resident dignity
- Work closely with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team to follow care plans
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through compassionate communication
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control protocols
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience working with older adults or in long-term care preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background checks
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful approach to care
- Ability to stand, lift, and assist residents as required by job duties
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting)
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
- Working knowledge of infection prevention and safety protocols
- Ability to follow care plans and accurately chart observations
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
