Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to older adults, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly and clearly
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration
• Document care activities accurately and complete required charts and logs
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents
• Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Previous experience caring for older adults preferred but new grads welcome
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to stand, lift, and assist residents as required by job duties
• Pass a background check and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Skilled in safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Good observation skills for noticing changes in resident behavior or health
• Basic documentation and charting abilities
• Infection control practices and safe hygiene techniques
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills with older adults and families
