Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Shift Type: As scheduled, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (Night shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to older adults, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly and clearly
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration
- Document care activities accurately and complete required charts and logs
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents
- Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous experience caring for older adults preferred but new grads welcome
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to stand, lift, and assist residents as required by job duties
- Pass a background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
- Skilled in safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
- Good observation skills for noticing changes in resident behavior or health
- Basic documentation and charting abilities
- Infection control practices and safe hygiene techniques
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills with older adults and families
