Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility while preserving dignity
- Monitor and record vital signs and the resident’s general condition accurately
- Support safe transfers and fall prevention practices
- Communicate changes in resident status to nursing staff promptly and clearly
- Help create a warm, home-like environment that promotes comfort and independence
Qualifications
- Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained upon hire
- Comfort working with elderly residents and assisting with ADLs
- Clear background check and ability to pass facility-required screenings
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Ability to assist with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Basic vital signs measurement and documentation
- Infection control and safe patient handling practices
- Teamwork and effective communication with nursing staff and families
