Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Shift Type: Days to be scheduled, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Evening shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to residents, promoting dignity and independence
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition
- Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable living environment
- Build positive relationships with residents and families through clear, kind communication
- Collaborate with the care team to follow care plans and deliver consistent, quality care
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — Maryland certification preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfort working with elderly populations and assisting with activities of daily living
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus but caring attitude matters most
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical care skills: vital signs, ADL assistance, safe transfers
- Knowledge of infection control and resident safety practices
- Ability to document care accurately and follow care plans
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with memory-care or frail residents
- Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
