Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Document care accurately and clearly in resident records
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive meals and hydration as needed
- Work collaboratively with the care team to develop and follow individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required or active enrollment in an approved GNA program
- Basic Life Support CPR certification required or willing to obtain
- Compassionate caregiving mindset with strong interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus but new graduates are welcome
- Ability to pass background checks and any facility-required screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and mobility support
- Understanding of infection control and safe patient handling practices
- Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to observe, document, and report changes in resident status
- Time management skills to balance care responsibilities during a busy shift
