Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Shift Type: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift; specific days not provided)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to elderly residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff to ensure prompt care
- Support mobility, transfers, and safe resident positioning with dignity and respect
- Assist with feeding, toileting, bathing, and grooming while maintaining confidentiality
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident record to support continuity
- Collaborate with the care team to create a calming, person-centered environment
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required) or equivalent credential recognized by the state
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a team
- Ability to pass background checks and any facility-required screenings
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with good observational skills
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a state-approved GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic nursing care
- Knowledge of infection control best practices
- Familiarity with patient safety procedures and transfer techniques
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Ability to follow care plans and verbal/written instructions
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
