Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Provide safe and compassionate mobility and transfer support
- Perform routine vital signs and observational assessments, reporting concerns promptly
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper hydration and nutrition
- Document care accurately in the facility system and communicate changes to the care team
- Create a calm, respectful environment that promotes resident comfort and independence
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — you know the essentials of geriatric care
- Hands-on experience working with elderly residents or in long-term care (preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain if not already held
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background/health screenings
- Compassionate communication skills and the ability to work well on a night shift team
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to resident safety and comfort
Education
- GNA certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ADLs and geriatric care best practices
- Skillful in safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Strong observational skills for spotting subtle changes in residents
- Comfortable with documentation and basic charting
- Good teamwork and clear communication with nursing staff and families
- Infection control and hygiene practices to keep residents safe
