Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients in the emergency department
• Triage, assess, and prioritize patients quickly and accurately
• Perform advanced assessments and stabilize critically ill or injured patients
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and according to protocol
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary team members
• Document patient care promptly and thoroughly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and next steps
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Tennessee RN or compact RN eligibility preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department nursing experience
• Current BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred
• Comfort with high-acuity patients, rapid decision-making, and fast-paced environments
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required for travel assignments

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and acute assessment skills
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and EKG interpretation
• Experience with airway management and basic life support interventions
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Clear communication and teamwork skills with patients and clinical staff
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
