Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments and reassessments to create and update individualized plans of care
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy per orders and hospital protocols
• Provide compassionate pre-operative and post-operative care, including EKGs and blood draws as needed
• Document patient status, interventions and responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Teach patients and families to support safe discharge and ongoing self-care
• Respond immediately and appropriately in emergency situations to protect patient safety
• Model and promote hand hygiene, privacy, confidentiality and a safe, respectful environment

Qualifications

• Current MA RN license (required)
• ACLS upon hire OR active BLS with AHA ACLS obtained within 60 days of hire
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Minimum ~1 year Med/Surg experience preferred; telemetry and skilled nursing experience preferred
• Basic Dysrhythmia Course completion within 6 months of hire if no telemetry experience
• Ability to perform physical demands of the role (lifting, reaching, standing for extended periods)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med/Surg nursing fundamentals and patient assessment skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• EKG performance and interpretation skills (telemetry experience a plus)
• Accurate clinical documentation and reporting
• Patient education and discharge planning
• Ability to prioritize, delegate and coordinate care in a dynamic environment
• Comfort responding to emergencies and promoting patient safety
