Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating day/evening and overnight shifts (mix of 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts). Primary day examples: Day 4x10 (Mon–Thu) 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM; Day 3x12 (various days) 11:30 AM - 11:30 PM. General coverage window 6:30 AM - 11:30 PM. Call/overnight coverage: Monday–Friday 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM. Weekend coverage: Saturday–Sunday 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 6:30 AM. Shift type: rotating (day/evening/night).
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $57 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and ensure sterile fields by applying rigorous aseptic technique
- Process, set up and manage surgical instruments and specialty equipment, including robotics
- Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during general, complex, neuro, spine and trauma cases
- Safely handle and label specimens and maintain accurate case documentation (EPIC preferred)
- Manage sterilization, disinfection and case cart workflows to keep turnover efficient
- Provide on-call and weekend coverage as assigned to support emergent and trauma cases
- Mentor and teach peers when opportunities arise, supporting a teaching hospital culture
- Adapt quickly across specialties — from bariatrics and plastics to transplant and pediatric craniofacial
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Surgical Technologist / OR experience required (travel OR experience preferred)
- Trauma Level II experience required; Level I trauma preferred
- Teaching hospital experience required; prior travel assignments a plus
- BCLS (BLS) certification required
- EPIC experience preferred
- Familiarity with robotics (Da Vinci systems) and advanced instrumentation preferred
- Ability to provide weekend and call coverage as part of the team
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent preferred
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
- BCLS (BLS) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique, instrument processing and sterilization/disinfection expertise
- Universal Protocol (time out) and strong specimen handling/labeling practices
- Wound care and dressing changes, plus routine endoscopic procedure support
- Comfort with complex specialties: neurosurgery, spine, complex orthopedics, bariatrics and trauma
- Experience with robotics (Da Vinci Si/SP/Xi, Mazor) and case-specific equipment
- Familiarity with perioperative charting systems (EPIC preferred) and 1:1 patient ratio workflows
- Ability to handle high-acuity cases (burns, transplant, OR trauma) and maintain composure under pressure
