Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality med-surg and orthopedic nursing care to post-op and medical patients
- Assess patient condition and intervene promptly to maintain safety and promote recovery
- Manage traction and orthopedic equipment safely and according to unit protocols
- Implement and monitor total joint and spine precautions, ensuring patient education and adherence
- Administer medications and document care accurately using Meditech EMR
- Collaborate with nurses, CNAs, therapists, and physicians to coordinate effective patient-centered care
- Maintain clear, timely documentation and handoffs to support continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain licensure in Kansas
- Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in med-surg and/or orthopedics
- Familiarity with traction, total joint and spine care, and joint precautions
- Experience using Meditech or similar electronic medical record systems
- Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills
- Professional, compassionate bedside manner and ability to work in a fast-paced unit
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Post-operative orthopedic care and total joint management
- Safe use and monitoring of traction equipment
- Patient assessment, medication administration, and wound care
- Proficient documentation in Meditech EMR
- Ability to work with a 6:1 patient ratio while prioritizing safety
- Effective interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
