Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care for a diverse caseload — from fast track to trauma
- Assess and triage patients quickly, prioritizing safety and timely interventions
- Operate and manage emergency equipment such as Alaris pumps and rapid infusers with confidence
- Provide airway support, central line care, and resuscitation when called upon
- Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Apply behavioral health de-escalation techniques compassionately when needed
- Document care accurately in MEDITECH and communicate clear handoffs during shift changes
- Participate in unit policies and quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Active RN license (Texas) — required
- Minimum 1 year of experience (emergency nursing preferred)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
- ENPC, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications (required)
- Trauma and fast-track experience preferred
- Familiarity with MEDITECH EMR preferred
- CPI and holding/inpatient experience a plus
- Strong teamwork, multitasking, and critical thinking skills
Education
- Active RN license in good standing (Texas)
- ADN or BSN in Nursing (BSN preferred but not strictly required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency services and rapid assessment skills
- Experience with Alaris infusion pumps, Belmont/Level 1 rapid infusers and Stryker stretchers
- EKG interpretation and central monitoring
- Central line care and resuscitation procedures
- Airway support and trauma assist techniques
- Behavioral health de-escalation strategies
- Proficiency using MEDITECH documentation
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-acuity ED environment
