Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients rapidly and accurately to prioritize care
• Initiate and coordinate emergency interventions including airway management and resuscitation
• Perform and assist with unit procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, laceration repair, suturing and splinting
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses according to protocols and physician orders
• Document all patient care thoroughly in Meditech to ensure continuity and compliance
• Collaborate with physicians, medics, PCTs and the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and follow-up plans with empathy and clarity
• Maintain situational awareness of department flow and patient safety in a high-volume ED

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) - active license required
• TNCC and ENPC certifications required by start date
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required; greater than 2 years preferred
• Experience with 12-hour shifts and working in emergency department environments
• Comfort and competency with procedures commonly performed in the ED (intubation, LP, laceration repair, suturing, splinting)
• Ability to work effectively in a team and anticipate patient and department needs

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and triage skills in emergency settings
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR and accurate clinical documentation
• Experience managing patient ratios typical to the unit (4:1)
• Clinical skills in airway management and basic emergency procedures
• Excellent clinical judgment, prioritization and critical thinking under pressure
• Effective communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary ED
