Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Med-Surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population including ortho/spine, post-op, trauma holds, and medical-surgical patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and ongoing monitoring using remote telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry
• Administer medications and manage infusion therapy safely, including use of Alaris pumps
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Prioritize tasks and manage time across a 1:5-6 RN patient ratio while coordinating with PCTs and LPNs
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient flow and continuity of care
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Respond to unit needs with flexibility, including floating within unit discretion and supporting weekend coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required); ACLS available/optional
• Minimum 1 year of Med-Surgical RN experience (unit requires at least 1 year; job header notes 2 years of experience)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and Meditech documentation
• Experience with common Med-Surg procedures (wound VACs, CBI, NG/feeding tube care, chest tube management) preferred
• Strong prioritization, critical thinking, time management, and teamwork skills
• Punctual, organized, and a self-starter who communicates effectively

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surgical nursing best practices and patient assessment
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Meditech electronic documentation system
• Alaris infusion pump operation
• Wound care and wound VAC familiarity
• Hemodialysis / peritoneal dialysis exposure is a plus
• Chest tube, NG/feeding tube, and CBI management
• Familiarity with PatientKeeper, Teletracking, MobiLab, and Wound Capture systems
• Strong clinical prioritization, critical thinking, and time management
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced unit
