Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents every shift
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions accurately and promptly
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques to reduce fall risk
- Collaborate with nursing staff to communicate changes in resident status
- Document care in the resident record and participate in shift handovers
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies consistently
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- Proven ability to work the 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM night shift
- Comfort working with the geriatric population and meeting their unique needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate resident care
- Facility may require CPR/BLS — be prepared to provide or obtain per facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related needs
- Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic personal care
- Knowledge of safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and staff
- Familiarity with basic charting and documentation practices
