Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents every shift
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions accurately and promptly
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques to reduce fall risk
• Collaborate with nursing staff to communicate changes in resident status
• Document care in the resident record and participate in shift handovers
• Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies consistently
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families to enhance quality of life

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• Proven ability to work the 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM night shift
• Comfort working with the geriatric population and meeting their unique needs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate resident care
• Facility may require CPR/BLS — be prepared to provide or obtain per facility policy

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved GNA program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and age-related needs
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic personal care
• Knowledge of safe patient handling and transfer techniques
• Clear, compassionate communication with residents, families, and staff
• Familiarity with basic charting and documentation practices
