Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, helping with daily living activities
- Assist nursing staff with meal service, feeding, and monitoring dietary needs
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Observe and report changes in residents' conditions to the nursing team promptly
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Engage residents in conversation and activities to promote dignity and quality of life
- Accurately document care provided and follow facility care plans
Qualifications
- Certified GNA or equivalent geriatric nursing assistant credential
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with elderly residents, demonstrating patience and empathy
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Reliable attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care skills: bathing, toileting, grooming, and feeding assistance
- Knowledge of infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and care teams
- Ability to follow care plans and document accurately
- Familiarity with mobility assistance and use of safe transfer techniques
