Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team to help ensure timely interventions
• Support safe transfers and fall-prevention practices, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable environment by assisting with room setup and basic housekeeping related to resident care
• Document care provided accurately and promptly, contributing to clear communication across the care team
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families, promoting dignity, respect, and person-centered care
• Participate in team huddles and follow facility policies for infection control and resident safety

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — current and valid in Maryland
• CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required by facility)
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
• Comfortable working the night shift and providing hands-on care
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or working with geriatric populations is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or state-equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and ADLs
• Ability to observe and report changes in resident status
• Familiarity with safe transfer and lifting techniques
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for older adults
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
