Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, assisting with bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Support resident comfort and dignity while encouraging independence
- Take and record vital signs and observe changes in condition, reporting concerns to nursing staff
- Document care activities accurately and timely in resident records
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to implement care plans
- Assist with safe transfers and use of assistive devices following safety protocols
- Create a warm, respectful environment that promotes social engagement and wellbeing
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or equivalent (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required or completed training
- State nursing assistant certification as required for Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered mindset
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA program or certified nursing assistant training preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and resident care best practices
- Comfortable with vital signs, basic charting, and documentation
- Infection control and safe patient handling techniques
- Excellent interpersonal skills and empathy for older adults
- Time management and ability to work effectively within a care team
