Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 3x12 per week (typical day shift 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM). Start times may vary (7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM; occasional 3:00 PM). Weekend coverage required (3 per schedule). On-call: one weeknight per week plus every 2nd or 3rd Saturday or Sunday 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM (24-hour on-call coverage); occasional night shift coverage may be required during the contract. Shift type: rotating day with on-call/night coverage.

Candidate Pay Rate: $44 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field using strict aseptic technique for a wide range of procedures
- Set up case carts and assemble instrumentation and equipment (microscope, laparoscopic camera/tower, arthroscope) so cases start on time
- Assist surgeons during procedures across orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular, robotics and trauma with precision and focus
- Perform sterilization and disinfection protocols and ensure all instruments are handled safely
- Participate in Universal Protocol (time out) and surgical safety checks to protect patients and the team
- Manage airway assistance and emergency readiness during operative and perioperative care
- Document intraoperative events and case details in Epic as required
- Adapt to variable case mixes — from total joints and spine fusions to craniotomy and vascular repairs — with professionalism
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of surgical technologist experience (will not consider less than 3 years; 5 years preferred)
- Required experience in Trauma (Level I) — trauma is a hardstop
- Proven experience in Ortho, Neuro, Vascular and Robotics (hardstops for this role)
- Travel experience required
- BLS required
- Preferred: CST certification and/or NBSTSA; Da Vinci Xi and Stealth Navigation experience is a plus
- Ability to meet on-call response expectations (20-minute response time for designated call shifts)
- Active state surgical technologist license/certification as required by facility (pending state licenses not accepted for this role)
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique and sterilization/disinfection best practices
- Case cart setup and instrument management
- Universal Protocol (time out) and surgical safety procedures
- Suture handling and removal, sharps safety
- Airway management during operative care
- Endoscopic and laparoscopic assisted procedures
- Familiarity with Epic charting workflows
- Experience with microscope, laparoscopic camera/tower and arthroscope equipment
- Comfort assisting with robotics (Da Vinci Xi preferred) and advanced vascular/neuro instrumentation
