Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable: 4x12 or 3x12 (traveler's choice). Day shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM (12-hour). Night shift: 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM (12-hour). Shifts are scheduled as all days or all nights (occasional exceptions for urgent staffing). Guaranteed 60 hours per 2 weeks. Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting) to maintain patient dignity
- Perform safe patient transfers and ambulation support using skylifts and Hoyer lifts when required
- Obtain and document vital signs (including orthostatic checks), respirations, pulse, and temperatures accurately
- Perform point-of-care glucose testing and operate glucometers safely and effectively
- Chart patient care and assessments in ECS thoroughly and in a timely manner
- Observe, report, and document changes in patient condition to the interdisciplinary team
- Follow infection control procedures, donning and removing PPE and adhering to isolation precautions
- Assist with pressure injury prevention, skin care, and supportive interventions for dementia and geriatric diagnoses
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification OR have already submitted Alaska CNA license application (application documentation required prior to application)
- If AK CNA pending: valid CNA license from another state and verification of completion of a formal CNA training program (certificate or transcript) required
- Minimum 1 year of CNA experience, with demonstrated Long Term Care (LTC) experience
- Previous travel experience required — first-time travelers will not be accepted for this role
- Current BLS certification required
- Ability to work with lifts (Skylifts, Hoyer) and assistive devices
- Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs
- If using facility-provided vehicle, must provide valid driver’s license and proof of insurance at time of contract signing
Education
- Completion of a formal CNA training program (CNA certificate or equivalent). Verification required if AK CNA is pending.
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and assisting with ambulation
- Skilled in safe patient transfers and use of mechanical lifts
- Proficient in obtaining and interpreting vital signs and pulse oximetry
- Experience with glucometer use and glucose point-of-care testing
- Familiarity with infection control practices, PPE, and isolation precautions
- Experience charting in ECS (electronic charting system)
- Pressure injury prevention and basic wound / skin care knowledge
- Ability to work with geriatric populations including dementia and Alzheimer’s behaviors
