Shift Type: 4x10 Day shift, 11:30 AM - 10:00 PM (four 10-hour shifts per week; scheduled days vary)

Candidate Pay Rate: $55 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and prepare patients for a variety of surgical procedures, providing thorough pre-op evaluation and education
- Monitor patients in Phase II recovery and manage safe discharge home once criteria are met
- Provide expert cardiac monitoring and recognize/manage dysrhythmias promptly
- Administer and manage medications including narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents with careful documentation
- Deliver compassionate pain assessment and management tailored to each patient
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, and the interdisciplinary team to support smooth perioperative flow
- Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and quality of care
- Float across ambulatory, inpatient, and pre-post settings as needed while maintaining high standards of patient safety
Qualifications
- Active RN license (travel experience required; permanent employees from other Providence facilities eligible after separation per policy)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant clinical experience (unit does not accept first-time travelers)
- Epic experience required for charting and documentation
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Comfort and experience with ambulatory/outpatient, inpatient, pre-post, and Phase II recovery settings
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
- Ability to manage surgical case types including ENT, General Surgery, GYN, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, and Urology
- Willingness and ability to float within service line and maintain a 1:2 day patient ratio when required
Knowledge & Skills
- Pre-op assessment, education, and medication administration
- Phase II recovery and discharge planning
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- Pain assessment and multimodal pain management strategies
- Familiarity with conscious sedation, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), general and local anesthesia practices
- Hands-on experience with ENT, general surgery, GYN, ophthalmology, ortho, urology, plastics and vascular cases
- Use of Epic for charting, orders, and handoffs
- Comfort with CPAP/BiPAP and breathing treatments when needed
