Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgical patients in the CVOR
• Assist and circulate during complex cardiac procedures including CABG, valve surgeries, TAVR, MAZE and ASD repairs
• Operate and manage cell saver equipment and ensure safe administration of blood and blood products
• Maintain strict infection-control practices and proper specimen handling/labeling
• Perform Universal Protocol (Time Out) and uphold laser and radiation safety standards
• Respond effectively to intraoperative emergencies and on-call situations
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Epic charting system
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Alaska RN license preferred (pending licenses accepted, but strong preference for AK RN in hand)
• BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 1 year of CVOR or cardiovascular OR experience (first-time travelers accepted)
• Demonstrated competency with cell saver and administration of blood/blood products
• Ability to follow Universal Protocol/Time Out and adhere to infection control policies
• Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs and participate in on-call coverage
• Note: Locals not accepted — candidate permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
