Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgical patients in the CVOR
- Assist and circulate during complex cardiac procedures including CABG, valve surgeries, TAVR, MAZE and ASD repairs
- Operate and manage cell saver equipment and ensure safe administration of blood and blood products
- Maintain strict infection-control practices and proper specimen handling/labeling
- Perform Universal Protocol (Time Out) and uphold laser and radiation safety standards
- Respond effectively to intraoperative emergencies and on-call situations
- Document patient care accurately and timely in Epic charting system
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, perfusion, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current Alaska RN license preferred (pending licenses accepted, but strong preference for AK RN in hand)
- BLS and ACLS required
- Minimum 1 year of CVOR or cardiovascular OR experience (first-time travelers accepted)
- Demonstrated competency with cell saver and administration of blood/blood products
- Ability to follow Universal Protocol/Time Out and adhere to infection control policies
- Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs and participate in on-call coverage
- Note: Locals not accepted — candidate permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility

- Strong communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
