Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly and accurately
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Help create a warm, resident-centered environment that promotes independence and well-being
• Document care and observations clearly and timely in the clinical record

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in the state of Maryland or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfort working with geriatric populations and assisting with ADLs
• Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Ability to safely assist with transfers, positioning, and mobility
• Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety protocols
• Good observational skills and ability to report clinical changes
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
