Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled, compassionate patient care following physical therapist plans of care
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, and mobility re-education
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the supervising PT
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Collaborate with the clinical team to optimize treatment plans and support successful outcomes
- Maintain equipment, follow infection control protocols, and ensure a safe therapy environment
Qualifications
- Current or active California PTA license or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Prior PTA experience in outpatient or similar settings preferred
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with supervising PTs
Education
- Associate Degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise progressions and gait training techniques
- Skill with patient assessment, documentation, and outcome tracking
- Familiarity with adaptive equipment and assistive devices
- Ability to develop and teach effective home exercise programs
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and teamwork capabilities
