Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Take and record vital signs and report any changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
- Support mealtime and feeding needs while monitoring intake and resident preferences
- Document resident care accurately and timely in the patient chart and communicate updates during shift handoff
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection prevention and safety protocols
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful, person-centered care
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to follow individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential — required
- Active CNA in the state of Maine or eligible for state endorsement
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar care settings preferred
- Basic life support / CPR certification preferred or obtained upon hire
- Ability to pass facility-required background and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care skills and a genuine passion for working with older adults
- Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with nursing staff and families
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, safe resident handling, feeding assistance
- Reliable documentation and observational skills to notice and report changes
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during your shift
