Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Take and record vital signs and observations accurately and professionally
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Maintain clean, comfortable living spaces and follow infection control practices
- Document resident care and progress clearly in the charting system
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to promote resident well-being
Qualifications
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — required
- Current state authorization to practice as a CNA (able to work in Maine)
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
- Background check and any required facility clearances
- Strong communication skills and a caring, team-minded attitude
- Basic patient-handling and safety knowledge
Education
- Completion of an accredited CNA training program
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with activities of daily living and personal care
- Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection prevention and basic clinical procedures
- Good observational skills to recognize changes in resident condition
- Teamwork, time management, and respectful resident communication
