Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide attentive, compassionate hands-on care to residents, helping with daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility while preserving dignity
- Monitor and report changes in condition to nursing staff to support safe care decisions
- Maintain clean, safe resident environments and follow infection control practices
- Support mealtime assistance and document intake as appropriate
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families, bringing empathy to every interaction
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — Maine certification preferred or eligible
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification is a plus
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Comfortable working evening shifts and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication skills and a patient-first attitude
- Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an approved CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamental resident care skills and safe transfer techniques
- Basic charting and documentation practices
- Understanding of infection prevention and standard precautions
- Good observation skills to notice and report subtle changes
- Teamwork, time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Compassionate bedside manner and respect for resident dignity
