Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality individual, group, and family therapy to adults in a correctional mental health setting
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that drive measurable progress
- Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation when urgent needs arise
- Collaborate with correctional staff and a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Maintain clear, timely documentation and clinical notes to meet facility and regulatory standards
- Participate in case reviews, treatment team meetings, and discharge planning
- Support program development and evidence-based interventions tailored to the population
Qualifications
- Active LMFT license (or LCSW, LPCC, or Psychologist credentials considered)
- Experience in mental health treatment, ideally working with adult populations
- Comfort working in a correctional or institutional setting preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
- Current CPR/First Aid as required by facility policies (if applicable)
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required onboarding
Education
- Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
Knowledge & Skills
- Trauma-informed care and best practices in behavioral health
- Group therapy facilitation and family systems approaches
- Crisis management and de-escalation techniques
- Familiarity with mental health documentation and electronic health records
- Cultural humility and the ability to build therapeutic rapport quickly
- Good communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams
