Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and intake evaluations for individuals in the mental health unit
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that are evidence-based and person-centered
- Provide individual and group therapy using best-practice approaches and trauma-informed care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, facility staff and community providers to coordinate care
- Document clinical care clearly and timely in the electronic medical record to ensure continuity
- Respond to crises with calm, effective interventions and appropriate safety planning
- Support discharge planning and referrals to community resources to promote successful transitions
Qualifications
- Active California LCSW license required
- Licensed Psychologist, LMFT or LPCC candidates encouraged to apply as alternate classifications
- Experience in mental health settings; correctional or institutional experience is a strong plus
- Comfort working with diverse adult populations and complex behavioral health needs
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic and documentation skills
- Ability to pass required facility clearances and participate in site orientation
Education
- Master of Social Work (MSW) required for LCSW
- Doctoral or master level degree required for psychologist roles (PsyD, PhD, or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning
- Familiarity with DSM diagnostic framework and evidence-based therapies
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Strong written and verbal communication for clinical documentation and team collaboration
- Cultural humility and trauma-informed practice
- Comfort navigating electronic medical records and basic clinical reporting
