Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions and assist patients with mobility and functional goals
• Implement treatment plans under the direction of the Physical Therapist to maximize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safe transfers, and fall prevention
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the medical record to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with PTs, nursing, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care
• Assist with patient assessment, gait training, therapeutic modalities, and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Maintain a safe treatment environment and ensure equipment is clean and functioning

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program
• Current PTA licensure in New Jersey, or ability/eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification — current or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehab/contract setting with varied caseloads
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; patient-focused and compassionate
• Reliable, professional, and able to follow established clinical protocols

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and mobility assistance
• Knowledge of documentation standards and electronic medical records
• Familiarity with adaptive equipment and safe patient handling techniques
• Ability to follow treatment plans and modify interventions per clinician guidance
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration
