Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing abilities using evidence-based practices
• Develop individualized treatment plans that set clear, measurable goals
• Deliver skilled SLP therapy across settings with attention to safety and dignity
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and family members to ensure coordinated care
• Document progress and provide clear, timely clinical notes and discharge summaries
• Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to support communication and swallowing at home
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning

Qualifications

• State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist (or eligible for New Mexico licensure)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred
• Experience evaluating and treating adult and/or pediatric communication and swallowing disorders
• Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a patient-centered approach

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in standardized and functional speech-language evaluations
• Dysphagia assessment and safe-swallowing strategies
• Treatment planning and progress monitoring
• Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) when indicated
• Proficient clinical documentation and charting practices
• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
• Time management and caseload prioritization
• Comfortable educating and supporting families and caregivers

This is a travel contract position based in Belen, NM — a great home base for both quiet outdoor time and quick city escapes. Explore the historic Belen Harvey House and learn local railroad history, stroll along Rio Grande trails for birdwatching and easy nature walks, or take a short drive to the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge for incredible migratory bird viewing. For weekend adventures, Albuquerque is an easy trip away with Old Town, local dining and cultural events (and the famous Sandia foothills for hiking).
