Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
- Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills and independence
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and families to coordinate holistic patient care
- Document progress clearly and timely, ensuring compliance with facility and regulatory standards
- Train and educate patients and caregivers on adaptive strategies and assistive devices
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts
Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapy license in Maine or eligibility to obtain one quickly
- OTR/L credential preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain upon hire
- Clinical experience in a rehabilitation or post-acute setting preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach
Education
- Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (MOT, MSOT, or OTD) or equivalent professional degree
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in functional assessments and care planning
- Experience with therapeutic activities, ADL retraining, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Proficient documentation and clinical reasoning skills
- Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary team and communicating with families
- Ability to adapt interventions for diverse adult populations and cognitive or physical impairments
