Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit and step-down ICU with compassion and clinical precision
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry strips to detect changes quickly
• Perform point-of-care tasks such as fingerstick blood sugars and administer therapies using Pyxis and unit equipment
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Meditech to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Operate and manage BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring equipment as indicated
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered plans of care
• Float to other acute units when needed (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) to support the broader team

Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (must obtain if not currently held)
• At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
• Progressive Care and telemetry experience strongly preferred
• ACLS preferred; current PALS preferred; NIHSS certification preferred
• Ability and willingness to float to other acute units in-house
• Comfortable working in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit with step-down ICU responsibilities and telemetry monitoring

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and continuous cardiac monitoring expertise
• Telemetry strip reading and rhythm interpretation
• Experience with Meditech charting and Pyxis medication systems
• Familiarity with BIPAP management and respiratory support
• Primary nursing care skills across progressive care and step-down ICU settings
• Strong assessment, clinical judgment and documentation skills
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced acute care environments and adapt when floating
